Goodbye 2016, hello 2017!

Important fashion events of 2016

Hello! Today I would like to share with you the biggest fashion events of 2016. Collabs designers/models, expected shows, departures and arrivals of designers. I'm going to try to sum up last year in fashion events so let's go!

The big stars of the summer 2016 were Gigi Hadid and the designer Tommy Hilfiger, because of a collection, all imagined and designed by the model herself. Before the show (which took place during the New York fashion week) people could share their feelings about it with the #tommyxgigi and Hadid even teased her fans, revealing different campaigns. Some clothes even became must-haves, like the denim jacket with the big Hilfiger's logo on the back or the navy inspired blazer. By the way, it was so successful that a second collection will be launched soon...
For the second collab, I choose to talk about (again) Gigi Hadid x Stuart Weitzmann, famous mostly thanks to his over-the-knee boots. They both imagined three pairs of boots, inspired by boxing shoes: the Gigi boots. They were available in three different colours : bronze, grey metallic and black croco.
Of course, I think that you guessed it, to me, the model of the year is Gigi Hadid. I wasn't the only one to think that because she received the award of the "model of the year" during the British Fashion Awards 2016. Hadid has been omnipresent last year: as an example, she was on the catwalk during all the fashion weeks and she did a lot of noticed campaigns (like Balmain, Versace and Stuart Weitzmann). 2016 was definitely the "Gigi year".

In 2016, I felt like brands wanted to change. We saw a lot of designers leaving and arriving for different luxury brands. First of all, Heidi Slimane left Yves Saint Laurent but, more than anything, Raf Simons left Dior and has been replaced by Maria Grazia Chiuri, former Valentino designer. As a result, she left Pier Paolo Piccioli on his own. Well I hope I didn't loose you and we continue with the most expected events of 2016.

To me, if you have to remember two shows of 2016, that would be the Yeezy and the Victoria's Secret ones.
During the New York fashion week, the rapper Kanye West introduced a new collection for his streetwear brand Yeezy. Unfortunately, the 2 hours of late and (among others) the models' fadings put the real show in the background. The only thing that we remember about the show isn't the clothes but the catastrophy it was.
In November, just like every year, the American brand Victoria's Secret did its show and, for the first time, that was in Paris! Thanks to a brilliant communication, every one could follow the Angels' journey from New York City to Paris. We could even see all the backstages before, during and after the show. Guys, congrats, communication is on point!

Unfortunately for some, 2016 has been a bad year. Maybe 2017 will be better who knows? Kendall Jenner, to me, has been the biggest absent of the year: she didn't do a lot of shows and seemed to be quite forgotten by people: is that the logical consequence of a "Kardashian overdose"? Let's hope for her that 2017 will be better!

To finish this post, I'm going to share my "hope" for 2017: Bella Hadid, Taylor Hill and Kaia Gerber. I trust you girls, 2017 is gonna be YOUR year, I'm sure about that!!
